Mar 14

[15:40] Shadowcaller: Dan is supposed to go to a square quite early in the morning where the cult is gathering for the joining ceremony.
[15:45] Shadowcaller: His handheld calls some time after he have woken up, unknown number.
[15:45] Aegnor: He answers. 'What?'
Session Start (moc.evil|eltrutyppah-anit#moc.evil|eltrutyppah-anit:Group Conversation 17808): Sun Mar 14 15:45:53 2010
[15:45] Aegnor: He answers. 'What?'
[15:46] Shadowcaller: "Hi, Dan right?" He hears a cheerful female voice on the other end "I'm Lya, you remember our meeting right?"
[15:48] Aegnor: 'Yup.'
[15:49] Shadowcaller: "Great, Capstone square. I'll look forward to meeting you Dan." She hangs up.
[15:50] Aegnor: He sighs, yawns and gets ready to leave.
[15:53] Shadowcaller: There is quite the distance to Capstone so he have to take a cab there. Taking is some morning air first. It's a beautiful morning, the sun heating up the streets of the old metropolis. But from what Dan can judge by the darkening clouds in the distance, this weather isn't going to last forever.
[15:56] Shadowcaller: The street is filled with people, singing, eating, walking — and ringing bells. Large bronze bells that look like they have been taken from a museum.
[15:57] Shadowcaller: Eventually, the cab stops and you step out at capstone square.
[15:58] Shadowcaller: A large group of joined have gathered there. Or rather people as apparently everyone here was a part of the cult.
[15:58] Shadowcaller: He can see a brownhaired thin woman with a bit of a tan waving over him.
[16:04] Aegnor: .
[16:04] Shadowcaller: Yeah, sec
[16:04] Aegnor: He walks over.
[16:06] Shadowcaller: "Hi." She says with a smile "You look a bit tired." Lya observes as she offers her hand.
[16:07] Aegnor: He rubs his eyes. 'Yeah. Long evening.'
[16:07] Aegnor: Then he shakes her hand.
[16:07] Aegnor: 'Anyway, good to meet you.'
[16:07] Shadowcaller: "Likewise."
[16:08] Shadowcaller: She glances over the gathering, "Well, let's start as early as possible?"
[16:11] Shadowcaller: (sec.)
[16:12] Aegnor: 'Sure.'
[16:22] Shadowcaller: "Okay, first of all we are going to meet one of my contact in the joined. Follow me." She says, walking into the crowd.
[16:23] Aegnor: He follows.
[16:26] Shadowcaller: You come up the an elderly man with an similar parasite riding on top of his head as the ones Lucia saw the last day. He grins as he see you two, looking pleased to see you. "Hello." He says cheerily, "I've never seen you. Are you new on Shkea?" (The city's name)
[16:27] Shadowcaller: (That is only aimed to Dan.)
[16:28] Aegnor: 'Yes, I arrived yesterday.'
[16:29] Shadowcaller: "Yeah…" Lya says "He wants to talk about the cult, if you don't mind?"
[16:30] Shadowcaller: "Of course not." the man replies, his grin streching further then you thought it would. "I am joined, and happy," He says "I'll be glad to talk to you. My name is Lester Kamenz. What do you want to know brother?"
[16:32] Aegnor: 'Well, I'd like to hear a first-hand account on what exactly it is all about.'
[16:35] Shadowcaller: "It's about not feeling empty, being happy. The Greeshka (The parasite) gives joy and happy Union." He replies with a nod which makes the thing on his head to wobble. "It's simple really."
[16:35] Shadowcaller: Lya watches the man with a certain fascination.
[16:37] Aegnor: 'Hm. But…' He slaps himself in the head. 'Sorry, sorry, it's got to be the travel fatigue. I'm Dan, came here to study this interesting phenomenon.' He makes a little bow. 'I apologize for being so rude.'
[16:39] Shadowcaller: "Oh, it's no problem." Lester says, still grinning "No problem at all brother."
[16:40] Aegnor: 'But anyway. There has to be something else to it? There are plenty of ways to feel happy.'
[16:42] Shadowcaller: "Yes, well…" His grin fades "I don't want to sound condescending. We are all equals after all. You are in the union as well, all that thinks are in the union. But
[16:42] Shadowcaller: (Darn enter key…)
[16:44] Shadowcaller: "The Greeshkna does not kill." He says after a pause with a slightly darker tone. "Only does who not have a Greeshka die. They are… Alone. Oh forever alone." Lester trembles just slightly.
[16:44] Aegnor: 'What's wrong with being alone?'
[16:48] Shadowcaller: Lester looks up at you with sudden surprise, as if he don't really understand the question "…I was alone once. But a few weeks ago I was admitted to the ranks of the joined. The first joining is a joyful time. I am joyful. Now I walk the streets and ring my bells until the final union."
[16:49] Shadowcaller: "Before I ran machines. I ran computers in the tower. But my life was empty, brother. I had only machines, cold machines."
[16:49] Aegnor: 'Why is the Greeshkna only given to people who are fifty? What about everyone who dies before that?'
[16:50] Shadowcaller: "We give the Greeshkna to does who are dying earlier as well for other causes. So they may join a bit earlier."
[16:50] Aegnor: 'Not everyone has time for that. There might be an accident.'
[16:51] Shadowcaller: "Yes… That is indeed sad." He says with a lowered voice as if feeling guily.
[16:51] Shadowcaller: *guilty
[16:53] Aegnor: 'Is there a reason?'
[16:54] Shadowcaller: Lester raises an eyebrow "Sorry brother, but what do you mean?"
[16:55] Aegnor: 'Never mind, it is not up to me to question your traditions.'
[16:56] Shadowcaller: He grins again "Don't worry, I understand."
[16:57] Shadowcaller: Lya frowns looking at Lester curiously, but doesn't say anything.
[16:57] Shadowcaller: "Was there anything else?" Lester says, "I'm open to all your questions brother."
[16:58] Aegnor: 'What happens once your mortal body wastes away?'
[16:59] Shadowcaller: "Once I die, the Greeshka will make me a part of the union. The body will stay in the great union chamber."
[17:08] Shadowcaller: ..
[17:15] Shadowcaller: ..
[17:19] Aegnor: sorry, checking possibilities for new laptop
[17:20] Aegnor: 'All right. What's the custom on child care on this planet?'
[17:22] Shadowcaller: (Well, I'm going to eat soon.) "Custom? Nothing specific. I can not speak for everyone, but I'm sure everyone tries their best to make sure all the needs of a child is taken care of."
[17:23] Shadowcaller: (And there, I'm going to eat.)
[17:23] Shadowcaller: (brb.)
Session Close (Group Conversation 17808): Mon Mar 15 00:04:57 2010

[18:35] Shadowcaller: -
[18:36] Aegnor: 'Homeschooling then? How is the planet government organized?'
[18:41] Shadowcaller: "I'm sure there are a few home scholars…" Lester blinks, looking thoughtful "I'm not born here see? Just been here for a year and a half."
[18:44] Shadowcaller: "The locals have a single government, but I'm not sure I'm the one to ask that kind of question brother."
[18:47] Shadowcaller: …
[18:54] Aegnor: 'Well, I don't mean to be a bother.'
[18:56] Shadowcaller: "I can assure you that you haven't bothered me in the least. But I don't think I can give you an good asnwer."
[18:56] Shadowcaller: *answer
[18:58] Aegnor: 'Thank you anyway.' He makes another small bow.
[18:58] Shadowcaller: Lester bows back, the thing on his head once again wobbling "A pleasure."
[19:02] Shadowcaller: As you are away from the crowd, Lya starts talking, looking quite thoughtful. "I talked a lot with him while he was working at the tower. My other job here is to make sure everyone is not feeling depressed or any other things that could effect their work."
[19:04] Shadowcaller: "Lester there was a computer programmer as he said, but he wasn't very good. An ugly little man with little personality, no friends, no sex, no nothing. Lived by himself, avoided the locals, didn't like them at all, didn't even like people."
[19:06] Shadowcaller: "But one of them got through to him somehow. Gustavson was his name. He ignored Lesters coldness, his bitter little cuts, his cruel jokes: He didn't retaliate, you know? After a while, Lester came to like Gustavson, to admire him."
[19:07] Shadowcaller: "They were never really friends in any normal sense, but still, gustavson was the nearest thing to a friend that Lester had."
[19:08] Shadowcaller: She stops, shaking her head. Suddenly going quiet.
[19:11] Shadowcaller: (And yes, you are supposed to reply here <.<)
[19:12] Aegnor: 'Mh. What do brainscans of the people with the parasite say?'
[19:14] Happy: *wakes*
[19:15] Shadowcaller: "From what I have heard, nothing specific. Nothing can explain *this* at least. I mean, look at Lester now, at first he was afraid of the cult, but he explained to me that he felt so alone after Gustavson left. And one day…"
[19:16] Shadowcaller: "He's happy now. The parasite can't have done that, this is not a normal cult Dan, I have investigated cults, they aren't like this."
[19:16] Shadowcaller: "Lester had not even known love before and now it fills him…"
[19:18] Shadowcaller: She appears rather fascinated about this subject.
[19:19] Aegnor: 'Every cult does the same thing, the odd thing is that this one spreads easily.'
[19:20] Shadowcaller: "That's exactly what Valerin keeps insisting, but I'm not convinced about that. It feels like it's more to it."
[19:21] Aegnor: 'Like what?'
[19:21] Aegnor: 'With my limited knowledge of it, it doesn't even classify as a cult.'
[19:22] Aegnor: 'More like a religion.'
[19:22] Shadowcaller: "…I don't know." Lya turns to look at you and then glances over the crowd "Yeah… Not that I have ever seen a religion like this."
[19:23] Aegnor: 'He at least didn't tell me of any ideology behind it either.'
[19:23] Aegnor: 'Just like using a drug.'
[19:24] Shadowcaller: "Well, who needs ideology? There is hardly any crime at all here. You know what they do at the first joining? You should see it.. It's pretty amazing."
[19:26] Aegnor: 'So, it sounds like the perfect thing except for harvesting their personality and having everyone die horribly early.'
[19:28] Shadowcaller: "They don't look it like that… It have existed here for hundreds of years. Looked through their archives, the 'cult' started just a few years after the colony was."
[19:31] Shadowcaller: Lya sigh "Lester is dying you know? He's going to the final joining in just a week. Apparently the time changes from person to person."
[19:33] Aegnor: 'Is there any secrets in the cult at all?'
[19:35] Shadowcaller: "Secrets…" Lya looks thoughtful "Well, there is the joining chambers where people go to die. Not everyone is allowed in there."
[19:37] Aegnor: 'If brainscans show nothing at all despite changed personalities, I have no idea what's going on. Maybe ambient psychic influence.'
[19:39] Shadowcaller: "Maybe… I guess they expect too much of you if they want to to solve a problem someone have spend years of their lives to resolve."
[19:39] Aegnor: 'Probably. However, worth trying.'
[19:42] Shadowcaller: "Well, I have heard theories that the church wants to get whatever is here."
[19:43] Aegnor: 'They did capture some of my friends and torture them yesterday, so yeah.'
[19:44] Shadowcaller: "Oh… I wasn't informed." Lya looks surprised.
[19:45] Shadowcaller: "I'm… Really sorry. That's horrible."
[19:45] Shadowcaller: "Are they okay?"
[19:46] Aegnor: 'They should recover.'
[19:46] Shadowcaller: She nods "Good, that must have been a terrible experience for them and for you. Do you like to talk about it?"
[19:47] Aegnor: 'No.'
[19:48] Shadowcaller: "I understand… But you got my number in case you want to, okay?"
[19:50] Aegnor: 'You know, it's not like it's the first or last time.'
[19:51] Shadowcaller: "Do you have anyone you talk to about this? It can be good if you let things out at times. Any family members or friends?"
[19:53] Aegnor: 'Yes. You don't need to analyze me unless I join the cult.'
[19:54] Shadowcaller: "I'm not analyzing you Dan. I just offered to talk."
[19:57] Aegnor: 'We're talking. As long as the subject doesn't stray.'
[19:58] Shadowcaller: "As you wish."
[19:59] Shadowcaller: "We have another meeting in planned later this evening. We are supposed to go to a real joining."
[20:00] Aegnor: 'All right. I'll need some research data myself.'
[20:01] Shadowcaller: "Okay, good luck. See you later this evening." Lya waves good bye, quickly disappearing into the crowds.
[20:02] Aegnor: Dan heads to wherever the HQ is
[20:02] Shadowcaller: Okay, it's quite empty there right now.
[20:03] Shadowcaller: Just a man sitting at the reception. His name tag reads Thomas Samson "Hello, how can I help you?"
[20:04] Aegnor: 'Hi. I need access to the data.'
[20:05] Shadowcaller: He checks his computer "Dan right? You arrived yesterday…" Thomas looks up "Sorry about your friends, hope they will be okay:"
[20:05] Aegnor: 'They should recover.'
[20:06] Shadowcaller: "Right." He looks back at his computer "So what do you need?"
[20:07] Aegnor: 'Just access to what data we have on the cult.'
[20:08] Shadowcaller: "Ah, I can send you the data on your handheld if you like."
[20:08] Aegnor: 'Don't need it, I'd prefer a terminal.'
[20:09] Shadowcaller: "In the back room, second to your right."
[20:11] Aegnor: He heads there.
[20:11] Shadowcaller: There are a number of terminals inside of the room.
[20:11] Aegnor: he takes one then
[20:12] Shadowcaller: Okay, want information is he looking for.
[20:13] Aegnor: cult
[20:15] Shadowcaller: More specific?
[20:17] Aegnor: all actual research data
[20:18] Shadowcaller: Okay…
[20:20] Shadowcaller: Let me think a while. I need to get something to eat
[20:21] Aegnor: again? Oo
[20:21] Shadowcaller: I didn't eat a lot <.<
[20:22] Shadowcaller: And I'm not eating dinner again or anything
[20:22] Aegnor: well yeah but eating multiple times a day
[20:22] Aegnor: isn't it a bit overkill?
[20:22] Shadowcaller:
*rolls eyes*
[20:32] Shadowcaller: Okay…
[20:34] Shadowcaller: Isn't it easier if you ask?
[20:34] Shadowcaller: I can't think of everything at once really <.<
[20:34] Aegnor: not really
[20:34] Aegnor: since there'd be a crapload of data
[20:34] Shadowcaller: ….yeah, that's my point
[20:36] Aegnor: so what should we do?
[20:36] Shadowcaller: Give me one moment
[20:41] Shadowcaller: Okay, the cult have existed here for almost as long as the colony. It started off small, just as the colony itself but then grew at a astounding rate and soon everyone was a part of it. It grew with the colony in turn.
[20:43] Shadowcaller: After the parasite have started feeding, it can take between weeks and a year for the person to die.
[20:45] Shadowcaller: From the investigations, the typical explanation of the reason people join the cult is that they are afraid of being along. There is a firm belief that once you die and don't have a parasite, you are alone forever.
[20:45] Shadowcaller: The parasites join all those who died of them together in love and joy in something that seems to be some kind of afterlife.
[20:47] Shadowcaller: People described it as they were still alone among other people, as they can't really connect, they have words and touch. But what else?
[20:47] Shadowcaller: They are still apart
[20:48] Aegnor: research data… first of all, everyone may be a part of the cult but does everyone on the entire planet believe in it? And from how young?
[20:49] Shadowcaller: From birth, and everyone is taking the parasite. There are differences in opinions and other things, but in that, they are all together.
[20:50] Shadowcaller: There is a audio-file with a cult member explaining the 'empiness'
[20:52] Aegnor: Brainscan data? How does the parasite react when you kill the host?
[20:56] Shadowcaller: (I'll write the audio file after those questions…) The brain scan date reveals that the person is well, happy. Almost constantly. The parasite kills the brain last of all, it slowly sucks the blood out of it's victim body.
[20:57] Shadowcaller: The parasite is unusual in that it don't show any signs of awareness, not even the one that can be found in bugs and similar very basic creature.
[20:57] Shadowcaller: *Creatures
[21:00] Shadowcaller: The parasites continue to suck blood even when the host have been killed.
[21:00] Aegnor: biological data on the parasite? what does it consist of? Why is the victim happy?
[21:02] Shadowcaller: It's a very basic creature, most of it's organs are 'lose', you could compare it to a jellyfish.
[21:02] Shadowcaller: Why the victims are happy is however unknown.
[21:03] Shadowcaller: The cultists theories is that there is a god in them, and that they all join with that god when the parasites kills them in the chambers.
[21:04] Shadowcaller: People have had dreams about it.
[21:05] Aegnor: so the parasite has nothing to do with the happiness
[21:05] Aegnor: ?
[21:06] Shadowcaller: Well, it doesn't seem to be that way at least.
[21:07] Aegnor: however, people who don't have it yet aren't always happy?
[21:07] Shadowcaller: No.
[21:07] Aegnor: What about removing the parasite?
[21:08] Shadowcaller: It can be done, but it makes them unhappy apparently
[21:08] Aegnor: it would point towards some link
[21:08] Aegnor: but it's impossible for there to be one. hmm.
[21:08] Aegnor: What about killing the parasite without the knowledge of the victim?
[21:09] Shadowcaller: It haven't been done.
[21:09] Aegnor: and with?
[21:09] Shadowcaller: They feel unhappy.
[21:10] Aegnor: Any effect on performing these experiments off-world or on a sterilized space facility?
[21:10] Shadowcaller: You mean putting the parasites on people off world?
[21:10] Shadowcaller: At other worlds?
[21:10] Aegnor: or taking them off off-world or taking the people off-world
[21:11] Aegnor: mainly, does the planet have any effect on it
[21:11] Shadowcaller: The parasites haven't been taken off world yet.
[21:12] Aegnor: Where do the parasites originate?
[21:12] Shadowcaller: From the planet
[21:12] Aegnor: details
[21:14] Shadowcaller: It was found before the teraforming, the details are a bit sketcy, like why people decided to started to wear them upon their heads. But they always seemed to have lived here.
[21:15] Aegnor: How do they live without someone to feed on?
[21:15] Aegnor: How do they reproduce? What happens when one is introduced to an animal?
[21:16] Shadowcaller: They live in the oceans, sucking the blood of larger whale-like creatures.
[21:16] Shadowcaller: But they can survive on land as proven.
[21:17] Aegnor: What does reading their DNA tell of their evolutionary chain, diseases or defects inherent to them and their preferred environment? Have any evolutionary links been found?
[21:19] Shadowcaller: From what is suggested, they are very basic creatures. Not a very long evolution chain at all. Ancient animals, no evolutionary creatures have been found as most of the planets natural wild life was wiped out in the teraforming. They are one of the few surviving creatures. They would most likely not survive without their human hosts.
[21:20] Shadowcaller: They doesn't seem to have any general diseases and the last wild parasites have now died out
[21:20] Aegnor: Reproduction and effects on animals?
[21:22] Shadowcaller: They doesn't appear to have the same effect on animals as they have on humans.
[21:22] Aegnor: Even monkeys?
[21:23] Shadowcaller: The intelligenter the animal, the greater the effect, or that's the theory.
[21:23] Aegnor: more intelligent
[21:23] Aegnor: also, what does that mean? more complex brain? more skilled with tools?
[21:24] Aegnor: larger brain?
[21:24] Shadowcaller: The theory is that it have something to do with selfawareness.
[21:25] Aegnor: hm.
[21:25] Aegnor: has future science found something immaterial that makes a 'mind' then?
[21:25] Shadowcaller: Um…
[21:26] Shadowcaller: Well, in case of reproduction, they reproduce in a similar ways as jellyfish
[21:26] Shadowcaller: They are breed at water storage tanks and such
[21:26] Shadowcaller: *in
[21:27] Aegnor: Hmm. So they have differences between each specimen
[21:27] Shadowcaller: Correct.
[21:27] Aegnor: and the effect has nothing to do with the brain of the specimen, but only works on humans
[21:27] Aegnor: sounds like bioengineering.
[21:28] Shadowcaller: Might be.
[21:30] Aegnor: but that'd be visible in the DNA.
[21:30] Aegnor: however, it can't be evolution either
[21:32] Aegnor: what about studying the parasite's brain? anything odd?
[21:32] Shadowcaller: It's very small, it's hard to study.
[21:32] Aegnor: well, electrons are very small and hard to study
[21:32] Aegnor: what have they found out?
[21:35] Shadowcaller: They don't have a 'brain' in the traditional sense of the word. But they aren't exactly sure what a lot of it's parts do. It have been explained away as some remains of a earlier evolution. The parasite doesn't need to move that much. They mostly float around.
[21:36] Aegnor: it'd be too easy to notice anything the creature puts into the victim, so that's out
[21:36] Aegnor: the other option would be a field
[21:36] Aegnor: does it emit anything?
[21:36] Shadowcaller: Such as?
[21:37] Aegnor: EM-radiation for instance
[21:41] Shadowcaller: There have been very few tests about that. Nothing have been confirmed yet.
[21:43] Aegnor: Well then, that'd be a priority. Find out if church has done this kind of stuff for the nonresearchers. It's the only way the parasite might affect the brain, and there's something very weird about a biological weapon clearly aimed at humans which appears to have 'evolved' like that in millions of years.
[21:47] Shadowcaller: So I guess he leaves a report about that?
[21:48] Aegnor: He mentions need for emission study, yeah. Access to church research is obviously important and doesn't deserve a mention.
[21:55] Shadowcaller: Valerin mentions he have had access to such research, but he admits that it might need to be renewed. Most of the research at the terminal have come from him.
[21:57] Aegnor: Mhm.
[21:58] Shadowcaller: One sec…
[22:00] Shadowcaller: http://joesherry.blogspot.com/2007/12/dreamsongs-song-for-lya-this-tower-of.html
[22:01] Shadowcaller: There, the first paragaph
[22:02] Shadowcaller: This whole plot, or rather, the cult part, is inspired by the that short story.
[22:02] Aegnor: Mhm.
[22:02] Shadowcaller: You should read it <.<
[22:02] Aegnor: Can't.
[22:03] Shadowcaller: In any case, what does Dan do after that? (Well, you should buy the book. It's called dream songs, or just download the ebook.)
[22:03] Aegnor: ebooks are horrible to read
[22:03] Aegnor: and I have nowhere to buy english books from
[22:03] Shadowcaller: Aww…
[22:04] Shadowcaller: I have a book store where I can buy basically all fantasy and sci-fi stuff
[22:04] Aegnor: Dan goes somewhere to get something to eat, then heads to visit the hospital again.
[22:04] Shadowcaller: Okay.
[22:08] Happy: Lucia is with Kara
[22:08] Shadowcaller: Kara will still be in bed. (And it's a quite… Sad story. The parasites in the book are actually… Well, god. Lya joins the cult, and dies in the union chamber, going on the the after-life or whatever. The main character that is her boyfriend understands that it's 'god' but yet can't make himself to take that path.)
[22:11] Aegnor: 'Morning.' Dan steps in.
[22:12] Shadowcaller: Kara looks a bit healthier, there is a trey of food at her bed. "Hi Dan."
[22:14] Happy: "Hey"
[22:15] Aegnor: 'How are you two?'
[22:15] Shadowcaller: "Feeling a bit better, they say the fever have gone down."
[22:16] Aegnor: 'Good to hear.'
[22:18] Shadowcaller: Kara arches her eyebrows "Any special reason you are here?" She pauses and then adds "No offence Dan…"
[22:19] Aegnor: 'I came to check on you. I realize I'm not a very good conversation partner but anyway.'
[22:21] Shadowcaller: There is a hint of a smile "Your always so practical. But I guess you have proven you care already."
[22:22] Aegnor: He acts surprised. 'Me? Care? Don't be crazy.'
[22:23] Shadowcaller: Kara grins "We all know your a big softy."
[22:24] Aegnor: 'Maybe so.' He stifles a yawn and sits down in a chair. 'Or maybe I just got bored.'
[22:25] Aegnor: (Lucia say anything?)
[22:26] Aegnor: (@)
[22:26] Happy: "I guess the bad guys haven't caught you yet."
[22:27] Aegnor: 'As far as I know, we haven't caught them either.'
[22:28] Shadowcaller: "They are still looking?" Kara asks quietly.
[22:30] Aegnor: 'Yeah.'
[22:31] Shadowcaller: Dan's handheld rings once again. It's Lya.
[22:32] Aegnor: 'Sorry, business calls.' He stands and goes outside before answering.
[22:33] Shadowcaller: "Dan… it's Lya. I felt you needed to be informed. There have been an explosion in three of the largest union chambers."
[22:34] Shadowcaller: "They are completely destroyed, the locals are devastated."
[22:36] Aegnor: 'Hmm. It's the church.'
[22:37] Aegnor: 'I wonder why.'
[22:37] Shadowcaller: "Yeah, that's pretty clear. But I don't understand why they would do such a thing."
[22:38] Aegnor: 'Does this affect us in any way?'
[22:39] Shadowcaller: "Well, people are devastated as I said. Just imagine if people started to destroy churches back home. I can't really predict the long term effects, but they might look for someone to blame. And since no one in the cult would do this…"
[22:42] Aegnor: 'Mmh. Rioting and lynching of off-worlders? That might result in an intervention by the military and that'd spell an end to the neutrality of this colony.'
[22:43] Shadowcaller: "I'm not exactly involved in politics much, but yeah. There are already people leaving the planet."
[22:44] Aegnor: 'That can't be what the Church is aiming for. Another planet for the UEC? I think we'll need to figure out what they know and fast, while we still can.'
[22:47] Shadowcaller: "Yes… I'm not exactly trained for this." She sounds a bit awkward.
[22:47] Aegnor: 'You should just concentrate on staying safe.'
[22:48] Shadowcaller: "Locked the door and shut the windows…do you think I should leave the planet?"
[22:49] Aegnor: 'I don't know enough to say. But staying safe is the most important thing. If you can arrange a safe transport, get to one of our shelters, they shouldn't be able to breach those.'
[22:51] Shadowcaller: "I'll try to contact Valerin and see if he can fix something. Hope you can stay safe Dan."
[22:52] Aegnor: 'I'll try. Later.'
[22:52] Shadowcaller: The call is cut,
[22:53] Aegnor: He calls the HQ.
[22:54] Shadowcaller: "Dan?" He hear Valerin's voice, he sound quite stressed "Where are you?"
[22:54] Aegnor: 'The hospital. What's going on?'
[22:55] Shadowcaller: "Chaos, those fanatics have blown up three of these peoples holy places. It's all over the news."
[22:55] Aegnor: 'Yeah. How's the public order? Any idea on why?'
[22:56] Shadowcaller: "I'm sending a car to pick you up…"
[22:56] Shadowcaller: "Well, people are still in chock frankly. I have no idea how they are going to react once it have passed, but I'm not taking any chances."
[22:57] Aegnor: 'True. We'll need to discuss things somewhere safer.'
[22:58] Shadowcaller: "Get out of the hospital Dan, I want all my people safe right now."
[22:58] Aegnor: 'What about the girls?'
[22:58] Shadowcaller: "How is the captain? Can she leave the hospital?"
[22:59] Aegnor: 'Better, but I don't know specifics.'
[23:00] Shadowcaller: "Then you need to trust your own judgment. Check with the doctors or something. I can't judge wherever staying or leaving the hospital is the greatest risk."
[23:00] Aegnor: 'All right.'
[23:02] Shadowcaller: "We will discuss this later. I have a lot to do right now."
[23:02] Shadowcaller: Valerin cuts the line.
[23:03] Aegnor: He heads back into the room.
[23:04] Aegnor: 'Trouble. Yet again.'
[23:04] Shadowcaller: Kara groans.
[23:04] Aegnor: 'The bad guys decided to blow up some holy sites and there might be rioting directed against off-worlders.'
[23:05] Shadowcaller: (@)
[23:05] Happy: "I'm not sure Kara is well enough to leave."
[23:06] Shadowcaller: "…I still have a headache and my suit…" She looks down at her bed sheet.
[23:09] Aegnor: 'It'd be best if we could go for safety but let's not take risks.'
[23:10] Shadowcaller: Kara blinks "I hate this."
[23:11] Aegnor: 'Do you think it's best to stay here?'
[23:11] Shadowcaller: "I don't know, I would need my suit to be able to leave at least."
[23:12] Aegnor: 'Hm.' Dan calls someone from the hospital personnel.
[23:13] Shadowcaller: (He got the number to the personal on the hospital?)
[23:15] Aegnor: I assume the room has a button for that.
[23:15] Aegnor: It /is/ a hospital.
[23:15] Aegnor: If not, he'll go shout.
[23:17] Shadowcaller: Okay, he somehow gets in touch with the same doctor Lucia spoke to.
[23:20] Shadowcaller: "…Yes?" He says, sounding to be quite busy. "I have a bit of a situation here."
[23:21] Aegnor: 'Yes. We heard what's happened and are a bit worried of our safety.'
[23:21] Shadowcaller: "I'm afraid I can't guarantee anything. People are angry and shocked."
[23:22] Aegnor: 'Yeah, I'd like to know if Kara is in a condition to leave the hospital.'
[23:24] Shadowcaller: "Kara… We haven't been able to repair her suit just yet and while she is improving… It would be a risk.
[23:24] Shadowcaller: "
[23:25] Aegnor: 'Then I guess we're staying at least until the suit is fixed.'
[23:27] Shadowcaller: "I'll check with the lab, I understand you like to leave as soon as possible. So I tell them to hurry."
[23:28] Aegnor: 'Thank you.' He cuts the call and quickly writes a message to the HQ with the decision.
[23:28] Aegnor: 'Well, I guess we're staying here for now.'
[23:29] Shadowcaller: "You can go if you want Dan… I doubt anyone would harm me in this state."
[23:30] Aegnor: 'And waste a chance to avoid working? No way, I'm staying here.'
[23:30] Shadowcaller: (@)
[23:31] Happy: "And if they try to blow up the hospital too?"
[23:31] Aegnor: 'Then I'll stop them.'
[23:32] Shadowcaller: Kara looks to be a bit surprised "I never get you…"
[23:34] Aegnor: 'Don't worry, nobody does.' He sits down. 'I didn't get much sleep last night so can someone please prod me if we're in danger of being blown up or stabbed with pitchforks?'
[23:34] Shadowcaller: (Ah, right. Didn't realize how much the clock was.)
[23:34] Shadowcaller: (@)
[23:35] Happy: "Sure thing," Lucia says.
[23:35] Aegnor: Dan takes an hour's nap if it's uninterrupted, which it might not be.
[23:36] Shadowcaller: It's not. Kara decides to sleep as well, she's still asleep when Dan wakes up.
[23:36] Happy: Lucia stayed awake.
[23:37] Aegnor: 'Unh.' He opens his eyes. 'Anything happen?'
[23:40] Happy: "Nothing at all."
[23:41] Shadowcaller: (On the all quiet on the hospital.)
[23:42] Aegnor: He stretches. 'How're you feeling yourself?'
[23:42] Shadowcaller: He can hear Kara snore a bit.
[23:43] Shadowcaller: Turning around in her bed.
[23:45] Happy: "I'm okay. Got hold of some crutches, and they have good pain killers."
[23:46] Aegnor: 'Really. You got shot, and I haven't heard you complain or even take notice of anything but Kara's wellbeing.'
[23:46] Aegnor: '…and mine.'
[23:47] Happy: "It's only my foot. I don't need it to play. Not like my shoulder."
[23:48] Happy: There's a touch of bitterness in her voice at the last two words.
[23:49] Aegnor: 'You need it to walk. But at least they heal.'
[23:51] Happy: (has no idea where to go from here…)
[23:52] Shadowcaller: (Oh well… Time for plot!) There is a knock on the door.
[23:52] Aegnor: Dan stands up and heads to the door.
[23:53] Shadowcaller: "Hello? I'm supposed to deliver a suit here." He can hear an unfamiliar male voice.
[23:53] Happy: (it's a trap!)
[23:53] Aegnor: He opens the door. 'Hey.'
[23:55] Aegnor: (If the guy outside has a bouquet of flowers and a tommy gun, I'll karatechop him in the neck)
[23:55] Shadowcaller: (It's not:P)
[23:57] Shadowcaller: A nurse (male nurse… But really, you shouldn't need to say 'male') from the look on his clothes is there with kara's suit warped into plastic. "Just came out of the lab, we don't normally repair these type of suits, but lately a lot of them seemed to have showed up here."
[23:59] Aegnor: 'Mm. Thank you.'
[23:59] Shadowcaller: He gives it to you and goes on his way.
[00:00] Aegnor: Dan checks the situation outside from the newsfeeds and such.
[00:03] Shadowcaller: There have been a few off-worlders, mainly tourists. Leaving the planet. Otherwise people are advised to stay in-doors. So far have 15 bodies been found in the ruins of the chambers. None of them have been identified yet. There haven't been any reports of violence, but apparently the church have condemned the attack in a public statement.
[00:03] Shadowcaller: As have Marek.
[00:04] Shadowcaller: Off-worlders leaving
[00:06] Aegnor: 'Well, here's the suit. Should we wake her up and get going while it's safe?'
[00:09] Shadowcaller: (@)
[00:09] Happy: "Yeah. I'm sure she wants to leave." Lucia sits next to her and shakes her gently on the shoulder.
[00:10] Shadowcaller: "Uh…" kara shakes her head slightly, slowly opening her eyes "What happening?"
[00:12] Shadowcaller: Her eyes go to the suit "Oh…"
[00:14] Happy: "I think the sooner we leave, the better."
[00:14] Shadowcaller: "Eh… Yeah." Kara slowly tries to sit up.
[00:16] Shadowcaller: "Dan, you mind?" She gestures towards the suit.
[00:17] Happy: (she undresses to put the suit on?)
[00:17] Shadowcaller: (No.)
[00:17] Shadowcaller: (She wants Dan to give her the suit.)
[00:18] Aegnor: He hands the suit to Lucia. 'I'll be back in a second.' Then he walks outside to signal the HQ to send transport.
[00:18] Shadowcaller: They confirm it.
[00:23] Aegnor: He waits a moment and heads back in. (I gotta get to bed to wake up to school soon.)
[00:23] Shadowcaller: (Yeah.)
[00:24] Shadowcaller: I guess Kara puts on the suit while in the clean zone. She still have a fever and is rather weak.
[00:24] Shadowcaller: And you leave the hospital…
[00:24] Shadowcaller: To be continue…
[00:25] Shadowcaller: Night
[00:33] Aegnor: ni
